On Saturday 22nd September we hosted our second U10 A Netball Tournament. The girls were very excited to compete against some of the strongest Prep schools in the local area. The girls had not palyed in a tournament since they were U9 and they were obviously nervous but still looking forward to the challenge. The team started well in their opening game against Bute House, holding on to a 1-1 draw for the majority of the match, however Bute were quick to respond in the second half and ended up taking lead of the game and winning 3-0.  In their next match the girls played Orchard House and Bishopsgate who were both organised and well rehearsed, there was no getting goals past them and despite triumphant efforts the girls just couldn't match them. Despite loosing their opening three matches, the girls then achieved 1-1 draws against both NHEHS, Holy Cross and Pembridge Hall. In their final game, we played LEH and in a fairly even match we eventually came out winners 2-0 to record our first win of the day. This will be a massive learning curve for the girls and they showed encouraging progress throughout the day!

On 26th September the U11 A Hockey team competed in their first ever IAPS Hockey tournament.  This is the first time the school has entered this huge competition and we were very excited about the big day.   We travelled to Oxford for the competition and the girls were quick to get off the bus and start getting warmed up.  In perfect weather conditions the girls opened the day with a 4-0 win over Pipers Corner Prep school.  The girls then went on to play Winchester House, Wimbledon High Juniors and Headington Prep.  All very close games with one draw and two losses.  The girls ended 3rd in their group and we moved into the afternoon rounds of play but knew the next game would be their toughest yet.  We had seen Blue Coat school earlier in the day and they had an impressive shape and they had performed exceptionally well finishing 2nd in their group.

Unfortunately the girls lost this game 4-0 meaning they were out of the competition but what a fantastic experience for all of the girls involved.  We now eagerly await Hockey season which will start shorty after the Christmas break!
