Children taking part in the Bilingual Club entered the South Ken Kids Festival competition in October. They created two illustrated books opening with the line ‘The day I left home’, to tie in with the migration strand of this year’s festival. Theo, Jessica, Juliette, Astrid and Olivia entered the Tiny Travellers category with their book ‘Mes aventures’. Barnaby designed a book called ‘New-York en danger’ for the Valiant Voyagers category. Both books were written in French and English and beautifully illustrated.
We attended the Prizegiving Ceremony at the French Institute. We had the privilege of listening to a reader telling us the story of ‘The Refuge’, a book written by Anne Booth and illustrated by Sam Usher. Sam was there to draw pictures while the story was read, this was a very special moment for our pupils.
Our Tiny Travellers were awarded a prize for their creativity, hard work and team effort.
The books are now on special display at the school library for everyone to have a look at.
Well done to our French bilinguals!
