On Saturday 6th February, the school hosted the 2016 Newland House Netball Tournament. The scene was set for a great day of netball as the rain held off and there was a lovely selection of tea and cakes for parents. There was plenty of touch line support, a great atmosphere and a strong turn out for the tournament with teams participating from Glendower, Ravenscourt Park, Lady Eleanor Holles, Bute House, Holy Cross, Pembridge Hall, Orchard House and Notting Hill and Ealing High School.
The ‘round-robin’ part of the tournament gave teams an opportunity to play against each other. Finals were then played between the first and second placed teams and a play-off between the third and fourth placed teams. The Newland House team did extremely well winning all eight of their matches and finishing top in the round-robin competition, leading them straight into the final against Ravenscourt Park.
The final was very exciting with Newland House getting off to a strong start and leading 3-1 at half time. The girls continued to play well and the end score line was a resounding 6-1 win. Notting Hill/Ealing High Schools won the against Holy Cross to finish overall 3rd.
The day ended with well-deserved hot lunch before the prize giving. Congratulations to the Newland House team and all the schools who took part.
