'I enjoy learning how to read maps so I can understand where I live in the world and I also find it interesting to learn about different countries and cultures. I particularly like learning about volcanoes and how they affect their surroundings. Geography makes me appreciate how lucky I am to live in a country that also has lots of clean water, when people in some countries, such as those in Africa, have to walk miles for just one bucket of clean water.'
Isla, Year 6
By stimulating and promoting an awareness of physical and human geography we develop children’s geographical skills, knowledge and understanding and encourage them to see the world around them with a new perspective.
