Fees

Registration Fee

A non-refundable registration fee of £100 is payable on registration of a child.

Nursery Deposit

A deposit of £500 is payable on acceptance of a place in the Nursery. The deposit is not refundable if a child does not take up a place at the nursery. In order to withdraw the acceptance of a nursery place before the child starts at the nursery, one clear term’s written notice must be given prior to the term in which they were due to start. If such notice is received by the School, whilst the deposit will be forfeited no further fees will be payable. If less than one clear term’s notice is given, or if no notice is received, a term’s fees shall be payable and shall become due and owing to the School as a debt.

A place in the Nursery remains conditional on the child joining the school in Reception and the school reserves the right to charge a terms fees irrespective of the notice given and in addition to any fees in lieu of notice due in respect of the nursery place and the Reception place, if having started in the nursery they do not then take up the Reception place.

The deposit will be held throughout the child's time at the nursery school and will only be refunded, less the cost of any outstanding extra charges, at the end of their nursery year or if earlier, provided that one clear term's written notice is given prior to leaving.

If you choose to decline the nursery place, this does not affect your child’s place in Reception. Should you decline this nursery place offer, there may be an opportunity to request a place in the nursery at a later date, but this will be subject to availability.

Reception Upwards Deposit

A deposit of £1000 is payable on acceptance of a Confirmed Place at the school. The deposit will be held throughout the child’s time at the school and will only be refunded, less the cost of any outstanding extra charges, at the end of their final term, provided one clear term's written notice is given prior to leaving. The deposit is not refundable if your child does not take up a place at the school.

In order to withdraw the acceptance of a place after previously accepting and paying the deposit, but before your child starts at the school, one clear term’s written notice must be given prior to the term in which they were due to start. If such notice is received by the school, whilst the deposit will be forfeited in accordance with the above, no further fees will be payable. If less than one clear term’s notice is given, or if no notice is received, a term’s fees shall be payable.

Fees in Advance

Newland House operates a Fees in Advance (FIA) Scheme whereby an advance, single lump sum payment by parents, grandparents or guardians is used to defray a proportion of the termly fee for part, or the majority of a pupil’s time at the school (three to a maximum of twenty-one terms).

Parents/guardians generally “buy into” the scheme, by making the single payment to cover the required number of terms, at the prevailing fee rate when their child/children enters the school or from a particular point in their education at the school.

In return for the single lump sum payment, the school offers a credit to be applied against each term’s fee invoice for a set number of terms. The total value of these credits will be discounted at an agreed rate to calculate the amount of the initial lump sum payment.

The rate of discount allowed by the school on such payments in advance is kept under regular review but is broadly in line with base rates. However, once an advance payment is made the discount rate will apply for the duration of the arrangement secured by the advance payment. It must be noted that parents/guardians must meet the difference between the amount per term paid by the school under this Scheme and the total school fees due in respect of the pupil each term. This will include increases in fees, extras and expenses incurred by the school on the child’s behalf. These will be detailed on the termly fee invoice.

At the present time, the school is advised that the saving that is made on the fees is not taxable. Since personal financial circumstances can play so large a part in deciding whether or not to enter the Scheme and since the school, its Governors or its Officers cannot accept responsibility for the accuracy of this information, parents and relatives should, at their discretion, consult their professional advisers.

Further information on the FIA Scheme may be obtained from the Finance and Operations Manager.

Bursaries

The Governors set aside a percentage of fee income towards a Discretionary Fund. The purpose of this fund is to support educational causes within the local community and provide bursaries to pupils who may not otherwise have the opportunity to receive an independent school education or whose parents have suffered sudden financial difficulties. The school will expect any pupil receiving financial assistance to make a significant contribution to the life of the school. Application forms for financial assistance can be obtained from the Finance & Operations Manager. All bursaries are reviewed annually.
