This is an exciting opportunity to join an experienced English department. The team currently consists of specialist teachers who are responsible for the teaching of English to Years 4-8. We are looking for a dynamic and well-qualified English teacher, to join the School on a short contract, with a flexible start date.
We are seeking someone with proven experience in teaching English to a high standard and an evident passion for English and a keen desire to enthuse pupils. You will enjoy working within a team, demonstrate a positive, can do approach and have a good sense of humour.
Previous experience of Common Entrance and Scholarships would be an advantage. Of prime importance is an ability to motivate and inspire students. Applications are invited from English specialists with experience of teaching at KS2 and/or KS3.
Pupils are well behaved, polite, keen to learn and are all encouraged to achieve their individual best. Teachers in the department have high expectations for all, but very much tailor their lessons to suit the needs of each pupil. Planning is done so collaboratively but with each teacher having the freedom to adapt this according to the needs of their individual class. Creativity and a forward thinking approach are encouraged.
All members of staff are also expected to be involved in pastoral care within the School community and also to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the School. As a teacher at Newland House School, you will support the school’s aim in ensuring that we provide a curriculum that is broad and balanced, covering the academic, artistic and physical elements that are crucial for the development of the whole child. We set high standards of learning for all the children in a caring and supportive environment and you will help to promote our ethos in encouraging enquiring minds and building pupil’s strengths, interests and experiences. We pride ourselves in fostering excellent home/school relationships with parents and the candidate will be expected to have strong communication skills.
