Cover Story Book Review Success

Every year the pupils in Year 7 take part in the Cover Story competition which is organised by Richmond Libraries.  Each pupil reviews a favourite novel and posts it on the LBRUT website.  An important skill in writing a review for this website is to give a flavour of the novel and tempt other readers using a maximum number of characters.  This can be challenging!

This year, reviews submitted by four Newland House pupils were selected as winning or highly commended.

The winners were:

Freddie who reviewed ‘The Boundless’ by Kenneth Oppel

Joseph who reviewed ‘Superfudge’ by Judy Blume.

Highly commended pupils were:

Barnaby who reviewed ‘The Nowhere Emporium’ by Ross Mackenzie

Charlie who reviewed ‘Gone’ by Lisa McCann.

All four boys have been invited to a prize-giving ceremony in Richmond Library where they will receive their prizes and certificates from the author Tom Easton.

Congratulations to all the boys.
