Book Week

On World Book Day the children (& staff) made a small donation to Ruils the Head Boy and Girl’s nominated to charity in return for dressing up as their favourite book characters.  This launched the start of Book Week durting which we had planned and exciting series of book-related events.
The Travelling Book Fair has been based in the library all week and has been enormously popular and all year groups have spent time at the fair during their library lessons this week. They have all loved finding a favourite book to buy using their World Book Day tokens and spending their pocket money on the popular stationery stall which the Pupil Librarians have manged every lunch-break.
We celebrated the end of our Book Week with a special visit from author Philip Reeve and illustrator Sarah McIntyre. The children put their artistic talents to the test in Sarah’s illustrating workshops and queued up excitedly to get their books signed by Philip Reeves whose Mortal Engines series is being made into a major film and will be released this Christmas so one to look out for.
