Mathematics

'Maths at Newland House is really fun!  I joined the school in Year 2 and all my teachers have been excellent.  I have always enjoyed my Maths lessons.

My first maths competition was World Maths Day – it’s brilliant playing games against other children and seeing which country they’re from.  Last year I was part of a group from Newland House who finished 5th in the World.  We were Champions of Europe too!  Since Year 5, I have also really enjoyed the UKJMC (UK Junior Maths Challenge) and I have also taken part in several competitions at other schools.'

Mathematics underpins everyday life and by encouraging children to tackle new ideas and through practical experience and investigation, children learn to employ their mathematical skills rationally. Our syllabus supports advanced investigation whilst consolidating learning for those who need more support.
